                  JOCELYN WEST

Jocelyn West aka Jocelyn Montgomery was surrounded by music while growing up in England. With a grandfather who hobbied as a fiddle-maker she was introduced to the beautiful, classical sounds of her native country. Furthering her interests at The Purcell School of Music for the next six years, Montgomery studied formal vocal training and continued it at Saint Paul's Girls School while also taking up the violin. After graduation, she spent a couple of years flexing her classical folk background at various parties and weddings whilst studying composition in London.

In 1991 she formed the group Miranda Sex Garden with her friends Kelly McCusker and Katharine Blake and they were discovered busking in Portobello Road by Barry Adamson. Their debut album 'Madra' quickly followed featuring the single 'Gush Forth My Tears' and was recorded in just two days. Later that year they were the support act to an obscure British pop group called Blur and during their performance of seventeenth century madrigals they were unfortunately subjected to moronic abuse from the beer swilling audience.

Not to be deterred the girls continued their career and although Jocelyn left the group in 1992 the band continues to this day. Jocelyn eventually married and moved to Los Angeles but didn't let that get in the way of her singing career. She came to the attention of Mammoth Records and released the acclaimed 'Lux Vivens' in 1998 with additional production help from film maker David Lynch.
